Recovery from the Fire: Gratitude in the Valley

Mesquite Heat Fire of May’ 2022

Gratitude in the Valley

It has been approximately seven weeks since the Mesquite Heat Fire.  The fire survivors have had plenty of work over the past few weeks, and they emphasize that recovery will be an ongoing process.  Thankfully, the residents of Hidden Valley have shared many positive comments about their first responders in the community and caring neighbors.

As a sneak peek to an upcoming story, we have heard that JB Merritt has taken on a second career since the fire.  It will be revealed in an upcoming issue.  Hint: laundry service…. lol….stay tuned.

Now, one of the resounding themes amongst the Hidden Valley fire survivors are gratitude.

Please see the Comments Posted by Hidden Valley Resident, Carol Casey Below (May 25, 2022):

“Just beyond the top of this hill you enter a beautiful little neighborhood called Hidden Valley where 10 families live.  On Monday evening, all of our worldly possessions were taken from us by the Mesquite Heat Fire.  To my knowledge, we were the first to be devoured by this beast.  Devoured but not destroyed, for the peace of God was felt by all of you who have faithfully lifted us up in your prayers to the Lord.

Jesus has lifted us up beyond our circumstances and given us another day to hopefully someday return the favor.

To Ricky Bishop and his staff, we owe you a big thank you for swift action in saving our lives.  To all of those who have worked so hard to extinguish the fire, we thank you.  To the many upon many volunteers who have worked tirelessly to feed us, keep us comfortable, and give us hope, we thank you.

To all involved, yet unnamed who were fighting the battle, we thank you.  Mere words can never express our debt of gratitude to each and every one of you who have come to our aid.  May the Lord Bless You and Keep you safe in His arms.”

“May the Lord of Peace Himself grant you peace at all times and in every way.”  2 Thessalonians 3:16
